The BeatWoven process. From music to fabric.
MUSIC REIMAGINED. TEXTILES REIMAGINED.
MADE IN ENGLAND
In addition to its bespoke art pieces, BeatWoven plays with pattern to create a prestige couture fabric line called The White Label, available to buy per metre in small quantities. Only 100 metres of each pattern in each colour are made globally. Audio - mainly music- is chosen to encapsulate its mood and by using its technology is translated into woven patterns. At this point the artist intersects with the process to control the decision making with play, composition, scale, and to assign colour, yarn and structure. Research is carried out to collate visuals of mood and collated into a storyboards. The patterns are skilfully edited and technically prepared for weaving. For commissioned projects the design process can simply start with a chosen song.
All weaving is in the UK at one of the last remaining English Silk Weaving Mills, using exclusively sourced materials and the highest quality of craftsmanship. Although innovative, the value of maintaining British heritage and tradition of woven expertise is particularly important to BeatWoven®.
All finishing applications of 'The White Label' collections are sewn by hand with hand-picked trimmings, back in the studio. Product is shipped directly from the studio - all of the orders are checked, labelled and packed before shipping.
